For the next few days, inspection crews in Dothan will be conducting a physical survey of the city's sewer collection system.
The study will involve opening and entering manholes in streets and backyard utility easements.
During the smoke testing, gray smoke will be coming from vent pipes on the roof of homes and from breaks in the sewer lines, so don't be alarmed if you see this.
The smoke is not toxic, leaves no residue and creates no fire hazards.
The smoke should not enter your home unless there you have defective plumbing, or your drain traps are dry.
