With the new school year beginning Thursday in Dothan, police say they'll be out in full force.
Eleven crossing guards have already been hired to assist Dothan police in catching speeders, and police say they won't be giving out warnings.
“Bottom line, slow down in a school zone and be patient, you have to understand kids are going back to school,” said Sgt. Tim Ward of Dothan Police Dept.
“We need to be extremely careful because we don't want to have to work a wreck in a school zone.”
There is a minimum fine of $150 if driver are caught speeding in a school zone.
