Downtown Dothan is experiencing many changes. This year three new restaurants have opened. Several businesses have started making changes to their buildings to make them more appealing.
Now another downtown building is being remodeled with a New Orleans theme.
The law firm of Cochran, Cherry, Givens, Smith, Lane, & Taylor is remodeling property across from their business on the corner of Main and Oates Street as part of an expansion project.
"We either had to expand or move and here seemed to be a logical move. We are going to cleanup the area and make it as beautiful as we can," said Samuel Cherry.
The new building will also have a community room for organizations to hold get-togethers. The business wants to incorporate Justice Park into their vision.
"We want to be one with the park and we want the park to be one with us," said Cathy Cole of Dothan Downtown Group.
The development project is located in a highly visible area and downtown visionaries feel it will help to motivate other businesses to follow suit.
"Every time one block is revitalized we see movement somewhere else," said Cherry
The law firm is looking to purchase additional property near its current business to create more parking for customers. Members of the downtown group say when this project is completed it will be another asset to downtown Dothan.
The new building, with the community room addition, is expected to be completed by the end of this year.
