It is National Farmers Market week across the nation.
Alabama Governor Bob Riley issued a state proclamation to call special and deserved attention to the many farmers markets in the state and the numerous benefits to local farmers and consumers.
Alabama has seen an increase in the number of farmers markets in the past 12 years from 17 to 93.
The Houston County farmers market is open Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from 6 a.m. until noon and from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Fridays.
It's located at the Houston County farm center.
In Coffee County, the farmers market is open on Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays throughout the summer.
The hours are from 7 to 10:30 in the morning.
