Riley's Tax Bills

House budget committees approved three more bills in the governor's billion dollar plus tax package Thursday.

The Education Finance and Appropriations Committee approved the governor's bill to raise the sales tax on cars from two percent to 2.5-percent.

The government Finance and Appropriations Committee approved two of Riley's bills that change the way banks are taxed.

The three bills together will generate about $133 million in new taxes. They now go to the house for consideration.

After the committee meetings, Legislators headed home for the long Memorial Day weekend.
