A plane and bus collide on the Dothan Regional Airport's taxi way setting the plane on fire, injuring those on board both the aircraft and the bus.

Fortunately, it's only a drill.

These area firefighters, paramedics, police officers and other emergency personnel are teaming up to make sure Dothan regional airport could handle a disaster should it occur.

"The scenario we were working today involved an aircraft in trouble, coming in. That got the initial response from the Dothan Regional Airport and the Dothan Fire Department," says Captain Chris Etheredge, Dothan Fire Department.

"During this response, a bus from Wallace College that was transporting some students made it on to the airport property, breaching security. While it was on the taxiway, the bus struck an aircraft. We had approximately 18 patients on the bus as well as the aircraft pilot that needed to be transported to local facilities,"

While this could seem a little extreme, organizers say it helps make sure they are prepared for any kind of emergency.

"You'll always have areas (of weakness) when you have a disaster. I think we are well equipped and well trained. If anything like this does happen, we'll be ready," says Angela McNeal, Drill's Public Information Officer.

Hopefully, nothing this severe will ever happen.

The Dothan Regional Airport is required by the Federal Aviation Administration to conduct a disaster drill each year.
