Sheriff's Operations Commander Bill Land announced his resignation Wednesday. He would not elaborate on his resignation.
Land has been operations commander for a little more than eight years.
His resignation is effective on May 30.
Sheriff Lamar Glover did issue a statement praising Land for his contributions to the department and the citizens of Houston County.
