Defuniak Spirngs E-911 Expansion Plan

One Panhandle law enforcement agency plans to go on-line with a 24-hour dispatch center.

Right now, police-related 911 calls arrive at the Walton County Emergency Operations Center in Defuniak Spirngs.

They are then sent to the Walton County Sheriff's office.

City calls are then routed to the Defuniak Springs Police Department.

Now, Defuniak Springs is looking at spending around $80,000 to create its own dispatch.

Defuniak Springs Police Chief Michael Adkinson says he was forced to look into creating a dispatch center after the Walton County Sheriff's Department indicated it would no longer re-route city calls after November.
