Slocomb Road Petition

A group of Geneva County residents are passing around a petition asking that a busy dirt road in their neighborhood be paved.

The residents say it's a tragedy waiting to happen.

Bessie Baxter owns and operates New World Child Care in Slocomb. Recently, Mrs. Baxter spearheaded a petition drive to get McCollough Road paved.

During heavy periods of rain, it becomes a large mud puddle and when it's dry, that presents a different set of problems.

Those who've signed the petition have their own stories to tell, accidents and near fatal mishaps.

Slocomb city council officials say they understand the homeowners concerns, but they don't have the money to pave McCollough Road at this time.
