Chipley Cemetery Vandalism

A Northwest Florida mayor says he is shocked and disgusted over a recent series of crimes in his town. One or more vandals have targeted one of Chipley's oldest cemeteries. Shortly after Chipley's incorporation in the 1880's, Glenwood Cemetery was established.

Over recent weeks, one or more pranksters have caused thousands of dollars in vandalism. In some cases, they've knocked over or even destroyed marble head stones.

Most of the vandalism has taken place in the section with the older graves. Longtime Chipley Mayor Tommy McDonald says he wants the culprits caught and brought to justice.

The city council has set aside $500 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the cemetery vandalism.

If you or someone you know have information about the vandalism at the Glenwood Cemetery, you are asked to call the Chipley Police Department at 850-638-6310.
