U.S. Senator Richard Shelby says millions of dollars for Wiregrass projects are one step closer to becoming reality after passing a senate subcommittee.
Among the projects getting a tentative thumbs-up, half-a-million dollars to enhance Downtown Abbeville.
The money will be used for a multi-purpose park.
Troy University is set to receive half-a-million dollars to help recruit international business to the wiregrass.
There's also four-and-a-quarter million dollars to help with the cost of the I-10 connector.
In a separate bill, Shelby said more than 187 million dollars in military funding has been approved for weapons built at the Lockheed Martin facility in Troy.
All this has to be approved by the US Senate, the US House and receive the president's ok before becoming a reality.
