Apache Helicopter

An AH64 Apache Helicopter was damaged in an accident at Fort Rucker Thursday. There were two crew members on board, but neither was injured.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation.

The aircraft was being used for pilot aircraft qualification training.
After takeoff at Hooper Stagefield, the chopper made a hard landing, which caused the damage.

Both men were taken to the hospital for evaluation.

The Fort Rucker Aviation Branch Safety Office classifies the incident as a Class A accident. That means the damage exceeds $1 million.

The helicopter itself is valued at approximately $14 million.
