Houston County Sheriff's candidate Andy Hughes officially announced his candidacy on the republican ticket.
He promises a change for the better.
38-year-old Hughes has nearly 20-years of law enforcement experience. Currently he's a Sergeant with the Dothan Police Department.
If elected Hughes says he will seriously look into hiring a personnel department for the hiring and firing process in the sheriff's department.
“I want to look at some legal questions. But I want to look at the feasibility of to form some type of for the sheriff’s department employees to appeal to. One man should not have the power to fire someone,” said Hughes.
Hughes will run against incumbent Sheriff Lamar Glover on November 7th in the general election.
