The Coffee County chapter of the American Red Cross is sponsoring "Shelter Operation" classes.
It's geared for those interested in serving as part of the disaster action team.
Chapter Director Elaine Roberts says there are changes to the shelters and how they will be operated.
Alabama governor bob riley announced earlier this year most of the state's community colleges will be used in a shelter capacity for Alabamians displaced by a hurricane or some other disaster.
“It is designed to be designated for people to be put on a bus to come up here. People who are evacuating from the mobile area will have a designated place to go. Try to avoid what happened in New Orleans,” said Roberts.
A second shelter class by the Red Cross will be offered from one until 4 Thursday afternoon in the gymnasium complex at Enterprise Ozark Community College in enterprise.
