Besides more money, Troy Police may soon also get more equipment.
Troy Police Department is hoping to get almost $448,000 that will boost forensic capabilities.
Plans are to buy 50 in-car laptop computers and mounts as well as 15 in-car cameras.
The remaining money will be used to buy related equipment.
It's being done in hopes to ease the workload of dispatchers.
The money must be approved by the federal government. It is already been given priority approval from a senate sub-committee.
