CROSSVILLE, Ala. (AP) - Law enforcement officials from two counties are investigating the case of a body found that was found buried under a concrete slab near Crossville yesterday.
DeKalb County Sheriff Cecil Reed said it is a murder case and his office is also working with Marshall County authorities.
Investigators found the body around 4 pm after an ongoing investigation led them to the site, which was a house on DeKalb County 37.
The body was buried about 5-feet underground and under about 10-inches of concrete.
Reed said the body was that of a male and was badly composed. He said the body might have been chopped up and doused with battery acid before it was buried about two weeks ago.
Reed said a "major" amount of drugs were also recovered from the home and no arrests have been made in connection with the drugs or the body.
He said the homeowner has not been charged with anything and has been cooperating with police.
