The mold that has plagued Dothan’s Wiregrass Museum of Art has forced officials to close portions of the museum.
The walls for the main, Bloomberg, dove, and Colman galleries are now bare.
Mold issues brought on by an oversized air conditioning unit and old age had museum officials temporarily remove the paintings, until Dothan Utilities can fix the problem.
However, certain programs are still being held.
“Our summer art camp is still going on during this time uh, the atrium gallery and children’s hands-on activities in the galleries upstairs are still open, so we still do have things going here, so if people want to come on down there still something to see something to do,” said Sarah Spencer of Wiregrass Museum of Art.
Every gallery is scheduled to reopen July 17, except for the main and Bloomberg galleries. Those will reopen on August 4.
