A Coffee County man believes action is underway to improve the emergency response time to his rural hometown.
Dr. Rex Mixon thanked the Coffee County Commission for looking at ways to bring faster ambulance service to the Victoria Community.
He told commissioners last month how he was forced to get his wife to the hospital when she nearly died after her pacemaker malfunctioned.
After our reports of the incident, the city of Enterprise may take over from Elba with ambulance service.
He says Enterprise is much closer.
“The area which I have spoken is an area which I think is going to need rethinking. In Enterprise is the best of the two approaches,” said Dr. Mixon.
He says a possible ambulance sub-station in the Victoria Community or elsewhere in northern Coffee County would also be a great benefit for rural residents.
