Dothan School Board Cuts

It's official. Many jobs and programs are going to be cut in the Dothan City School System.

Last night, the Dothan City School Board adopted the budget reduction plan that the superintendent proposed.

Dr. Hobbs suggested that 51 positions including 18 teachers and 33 support personnel be eliminated.

Also, the 20-day supplement pay for football coaches, the technology program at the high school and elementary art and music programs will be cut under Hobb's plan.

The school board commended Dr. Hobbs for not cutting the educational programs, adding the cuts could have been worse.

If Alabama Governor Bob Riley proposed a plan to help with funding, then Dr. Hobbs said he will re-instate some positions.
