Beginning June 30, the cost of a stamp will rise from 34 cents to 37 cents.
The new stamps are now on sale at area post offices.
But despite the new price, you don't necessarily have to buy a completely new set of stamps. If you already have an abundance of 34-cent stamps, you can purchase three-cent stamps to make up the difference.
Post officials said the increase is necessary to cover operation costs.
Several other services have gone up as well. The cost of sending a postcard has risen three cents and the cost of priority mail and express mail has also gone up slightly.
