Dale County’s industrial growth has made it the top county in the Wiregrass in the 2005 Alabama Economic Development report.
Dale County led the way in wiregrass job creation and dollars invested, with 505 new jobs and total capital investment of over 34 million dollars.
Ozark Mayor Bob Bunting says he's proud his city was a major contributor to the growth.
“Those jobs are for people who live outside Ozark which is fine. Those people which live outside Ozark shop in Ozark, they play in our recreation leagues,” said Mayor Bunting.
The report also recognized Alabama as the state of the year and the winner of the Golden Shovel award for job creation success.
The Golden Shovel is as important to the state as an Oscar is to actors and actresses.
