A woman who appeared to be in her early sixties was found dead in her home and police suspect the body has been decaying for over a month.
Ozark police and the Dale County Coroner found Sarita Norton after a tow service worker reported a strong odor coming from within the house.
Officials found the body on the floor inside the home. They say they are unsure how long it's been there.
“With her not having any relatives who live here with her, this is not a normal case. She's been dead for over a month and she's mummified,” said Earl Bankston of Dale Co. Coroner.
With the heat and humidity, a cause of death was not apparent. Police are still investigating.
