Some tow truck drivers in Dothan are upset, because they feel other wrecker services are monopolizing wrecker rotation at the scene of an accident. They want the city of Dothan to do something about it.
Early last year, city commissioners voted to have one wrecker select another wrecker under the rotation, if they didn't have enough manpower at an accident, or they couldn't make it.
Some tow truck companies believe the system is unfair. They say that a wrecker service will call a friend or a business under him first.
They believe a dispatcher should take on the responsibility.
Dothan Police Chief John Powell said, “We need to keep in mind that this policy is something that involves city operation service, the wrecker services do not dictate polices to the city.”
Denied the request to have the item put on the July 11th agenda.
