Plane Missing

Major Al Schimmelman of the Civil Air Patrol said the plane, a Piper-Saratoga PA32, was traveling from Campbell County, Tennessee, to Geneva, Alabama, with two people onboard. Schimmelman said both were commercial pilots.

Buck Williams, manager of the Geneva Municipal Airport, said the pilot was James McCaslin of Ozark and the passenger was Donald Wilsom of Geneva.

In Georgia, the Air Patrol said it was searching an area just northwest of Columbus, Georgia after a satellite located an emergency locator transmitter at about the same time the plane could have traveled over that area.

Schimmelman said the normal route of the flight would not have taken the plane near Columbus but poor weather might have forced the plane to take a different course.

He said officials also were searching Tennessee and Alabama.
