F.A.A permission to Build Wiregrass Airport

The Federal Aviation Administration has given a private business the clearance to build at one Wiregrass airport.

A Geneva lawyer has expressed interest in building a maintenance hanger at the Geneva municipal airport. However, local officials have voiced concern since it's a city run operation.

An F.A.A official in Montgomery says individuals can set-up shop as long as their plans are first approved by the federal government.

A long term lease agreement must also be in place for the structure to eventually revert over to city ownership.

North Star Engineering Services Lee Brown said, "We will be looking at the airport plans. That must be done before any developments can be done. The plans must be approved by the city and stay up with FAA standards."

The Geneva city council will now appoint a three-member committee to set procedures on private owners looking to set-up companies at the airport.
