A northwest Florida dog track is taking extra precautions to make sure a fatal canine virus doesn't spread to the panhandle.
Ebro dog track officials have barred any race dogs coming in from south Florida.
A contagious virus has claimed nearly two-dozen greyhounds in the Miami-Ft. Lauderdale area in the last few weeks.
There have not been any reported cases north of Orlando at this time.
Medical experts are still trying to determine the exact nature of the fatal dog virus, but it is not believed to be kennel cough which sometimes spreads through kennels.
Ebro track officials say its business as usual. Racing continues to take place at the Washington County track.
