Alabama Coach

Alabama football coach Mike Price reportedly met with school officials over the weekend amid Internet-based rumors of inappropriate public behavior.

Newspaper and broadcast reports today said Price met at least twice with athletic director Mal Moore, who hired Price last year after Dennis Franchione left for Texas A&M.

The 57-year-old Price said he would not discuss Internet rumors but may make a statement later, according to the Mobile Register.

University spokeswoman Janet Griffith did not immediately return a telephone call seeking comment Tuesday.

Price was in Pensacola, Florida, last week to play in a pro-am tournament at The Emerald Coast Classic, a PGA Champions Tour event held at Moors Golf Club near Milton, Florida. A party preceded the round.

Price was scheduled to be in Birmingham Wednesday to play in a pro-am event at the Bruno's Memorial Classic.

Price, hired in December after 14 seasons at Washington State, agreed in principle to a seven-year deal worth about $10 million when he was hired, but the contract has NOT been signed.
