Coaching Positions Filled

The city took action on two vacant coaching positions at the city's two high schools. Never before has both Northview and Dothan High Schools been without head football coaches at the same time until now.

But, both spots were filled last night at the city school board meeting.

Northview hired former Geneva head coach Leavy Boutwell as their new head coach and athletics director.

Boutwell takes over the spot left by Mike DuBose after he left for Luverne High School. Boutwell resigned as head coach at Geneva this past January.

He was 55 and 22 with the Panthers including a stretch of four straight playoff seasons.

And at Dothan High School, James Kelley has been named head coach.

Kelley currently works as a physical education coach at Carver Magnet School in Dothan.

He will replace Jimmy Addison who retired earlier this month. He will also be the schools athletic director.

Kelley is a former defensive coordinator at Dothan High under Addison. He's also spent time as a head coach in Pascagoula, Mississippi.

He takes over a program that was two-and-seven last season.
