Houston County Courthouse

The flap over the Houston County Courthouse may not be over just yet. While the contractor says the building "is" ready for occupancy, county officials say "its not."

Colby Clark of Clark Construction told reporters earlier this week that there were a few minor details to take care of but that work was virtually finished.

He said he hoped to turn the building over to county officials next week.

County Commission Chairman Mark Culver said Thursday that could happen, but there's still a lot of work to be done. Culver says there are literally hundreds of problems on each floor that must be corrected before the county will accept the building.

Plus, the building has not passed a final fire safety inspection

A lawsuit filed by Houston County against Clark Construction because of the delays is still pending.
