Houston County’s 14th case of animal rabies in 2006 has been confirmed by the Houston County Health Department.
Officials say a raccoon found June 9 in the Webb area tested positive for the disease.
The raccoon was found by a resident in his yard with his daughter's dog.
There was no known human contact with the raccoon.
However the dog involved was not vaccinated against the rabies virus.
In such cases where the dog is not vaccinated the health department recommends having the animal euthanized.
