Deadly Intersection

stop signAP

The Houston County Road and Bridge Department is taking steps to make one deadly intersection a little safer. Four-way stop signs are going up at the intersection of Brannon Stand Road and Murphy Mill Road.

Traffic has always had to stop on Murphy Mill Road. But now, stop signs have also been installed on Brannon Stand Road.

The cross roads have seen its share of wrecks over the years, and at least three people have been killed.

The most recent fatality happened earlier this year. Strips have been placed in the pavement to help warn approaching motorists of the change.

The signs covers will come off and the new four-way stop signs will officially go into operation next Tuesday at 10 a.m.
