The Coffee County commission has rejected two construction bids for a new Zion Chapel Senior Center. The bids were in the neighborhood of a half-million dollars, which the board felt was extremely high.
The Zion Chapel Center is located in the Jack Community.
Seniors there feel they are being neglected because all other areas of the county have received new senior center facilities.
Director Zion Chapel Senior Center Jody Millette said, “And the people in that community. they need this center because there's only a school, a store, a fire department and this center. and we deserve this center like any other county"
The county will now have to re-bid the Zion Chapel Senior Center project.
Officials hope to get it under $300,000.
