3 Andalusia Men Arrested for Burglarizing Home

COVINGTON COUNTY, AL - On Monday September 10 at approximately 1:30 p.m. deputies were dispatched to a residence off of Army Surplus Road in the Rose Hill are of Covington County. A homeowner had returned to his house to find 3 white males loading a truck with items from his home. He called 911 as the suspects fled the scene in a pickup truck. Dispatch gave out a “BOLO” for the vehicle to responding deputies. Deputy Paige Spivey made contact with the suspect vehicle on Shreve Road off of County Road 70. Deputy Spivey initiated a traffic stop of the vehicle with 3 male occupants. The occupants of the vehicle were identified as William Leon Burgans, w/m 41 years old of Andalusia, Hilary H. Mathews III, w/m 53 years of age, of Andalusia and Jessie C. Mathews, w/m 22 years of age, of Andalusia. The victim came to the location of the traffic stop and identified the occupants and his stolen items located in the back of the truck. Each of the suspect were charged with the following: Burglary 3rd , Theft of Property 2nd and Possession of Burglary Tools. The total bond amount for each suspect is $30,000. They are currently being housed in the Covington Co Jail.
