At approximately 11:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 7, 2012, Deputies with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office were conducting an investigation regarding a disturbance that occurred in the parking lot of El Rio Mexican Restaurant near Marianna, Florida. During the investigation of the disturbance Deputies traveled to 4749 Watson Street also near Marianna, Florida. While at the residence Deputies discovered one of the residents at that address to be in possession of a quantity of methamphetamine as well as evidence of Methamphetamine production inside that residence.
The residence was vacated due to the hazardous and potentially explosive nature of the methamphetamine lab and the Jackson County Drug Task Force was contacted. Investigators with the Drug Task Force arrived and were able to dismantle the methamphetamine lab without incident. During the course of the investigation it was discovered that one of the residents at that address were actively involved in Methamphetamine production using the One Pot or Shake n Bake method of manufacturing methamphetamine. The lab that was located was a completed cook that had been completed earlier that day by the suspect and was not active at the time. Also located within and outside the residence were chemicals and components utilized to manufacture methamphetamine.
Kevin Raymond Smith, 30, of 4749 Watson Street, Marianna, Florida and Nancy Danielle Keigans, 22, also of `4749 were both placed under arrest. Smith is charged with Attempting to Manufacture a Controlled Substance, Methamphetamine, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Methamphetamine, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Violation of State Probation. Keigans is charged with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Violation of State Probation. Both Smith and Keigans were transported to and housed in the Jackson County Jail to await First Appearance on their charges.
