Smoke billowed above Enterprise's Baptist Hill neighborhood Wednesday morning, but what appeared to be a disaster was actually a training exercise.
City firefighters spent several hours working on a controlled fire at a west Adams Street home.
As part of the city's effort to remove public eyesores, the two-bedroom home was condemned.
Enterprise Fire Chief Byron Herring says removing it cleans-up the neighborhood and also gives his personnel valuable hands-on training.
Since the structure was condemned, the homeowner will be sent a bill for the total cost of the clean-up.
