Enterprise Tax Holiday

This year's enterprise sales tax revenues are running well above initial projections.

City officials believe the rapid population growth, along with several related factors is behind the economic windfall.

The city council agreed to share some of the wealth.

By a unanimous five-nothing vote, the board followed the state's lead in passing a sales tax holiday.

Date is set for Friday, August 4. It's generally geared for back to school items.

Mayor Kenneth Boswell says the city will loose a bit of revenue for that day.

But, it's important for enterprise merchants to be competitive with those cities that have approved tax free day.

"What this allows us to do. This will make us take some hit concerning sales taxes. Hopefully it will not be of substantial means," said Mayor Boswell.

Over the last several years, the state of Florida has held a tax free week leading up to the start of the fall school semester.
