Two of the three men who are still eligible to become Coffee County’s next sheriff are Enterprise police officers.
After tallying the votes from Tuesday night, there's a republican runoff set for July 18.
On the GOP side, retired army Lt. Colonel Dave Sutton garnered 1,721 votes to lead a three-way race.
He led long-time Enterprise police officer Ricky Barnes by 238 votes.
With neither candidate having at least 50 percent plus one vote, it forced a runoff.
Perhaps the most surprising race of the evening occurred in the democratic primary; third term Sheriff Ben Moates lost to Enterprise police officer Lance Tindol by 251 votes.
Up until two-months-ago, Tindol served as a Coffee County deputy.
Tindol will face the winner of the Barnes Sutton runoff in the November general election.
