Dothan Paving Project Update

Updated: Wed 9:43 AM, Apr 16, 2003

Some Dothan property owners were not happy when they received bills from the city charging them for a paving project that began before they purchased their homes.

They thought the previous owners should have to pay. But, city commissioners say they will have to foot the bill.

Last week, the property owners voiced their concerns to the commission.

But, at their meeting Tuesday, commissioners said they will have to pay the assessment for the paving project because they are the current owners.

The paving project began in 1998. At that time, city officials sent letters to property owners explaining the project and the charges.

Some of the original owners have since moved. The commission said if the current owners don't pay, a lien will be placed on their property.
