Non-Profit Agency Funding Suspended

Houston County Commissioners have voted to suspend funding to the Dothan-Houston County Substance Abuse Partnership because of alleged criminal fraud.

The county commission made the decision Monday during their executive session.

The vote was prompted by a 21-page audit of the Substance Abuse Board by the Dothan City Commission.

The audit was brought about after people in the community brought their concerns about irregularities to the city commission.

Reportedly, the findings discovered areas that needed to be investigated such as alleged misappropriation of funds and fraud.

It's expected that the Dothan City Commission will also vote to suspend funding at their meeting Tuesday.
