School is out for the summer and kids in Gordon, AL will now have a place to go.
Mickels Recreation Park just received 10-thousand dollars in state money for improvements.
With the money, officials were able to plant more trees, build a pavilion and lay water lines in the park.
The project was funded by the state through Senator Harri Anne Smith and was prompted by Bennie Griffin.
"For the quality of life--for the children and town people here--it's just a great need for recreation. We don't have anything to do," said Mayor Charles Dismuke
The mayor and town council have other town-improvement plans in mind for the near future.
They were awarded a state flag in honor of their work and dedication.
