One man is in jail and investigators are looking for other suspects after a shooting in Ozark left three people injured.
Saturday May 20 around 11:30 p.m., 150 or so people were partying in the one hundred block of Pecan Street in North Ozark.
Two men started arguing, one pulled out a gun and others followed and before long shots were ringing out.
Ozark Police Officer Eddie Henderson said, “There is currently a victim in UAB in critical condition.”
The victim was shot twice in the arm and once in the torso and could be paralyzed.
Two other victims were pierced by the flying bullets but their injuries weren't life threatening.
Officials say this is a quiet neighborhood and problems like this don't happen very often.
26 year old Derrick Jiles of Ozark is in police custody for attempted murder.
Several other shooting suspects will soon join Jiles in jail.
“The way was wildly discharging weapons several people could have been killed,” said Officer Henderson.
Luckily no one was killed and doctors are cautiously optimistic about the victim's condition at University of Alabama at Birmingham Hospital.
Jiles remains in the Dale County jail without bond.
