Alabama's dean of revenue commissioners is asking the board of Coffee County commissioners for assistance in removing a salary cap.
Ronnie burns has been Coffee County’s revenue commissioner for the past 27-years.
Burns says an old cap was set many years ago, but in February the state legislature unanimously passed act 108. It essentially would mean that burns could receive the same retirement benefits as any other county employee.
Coffee Co. Revenue Commissioner Ronnie Burns said, "I would really like y'all to pass by a majority vote a resolution authorizing me to have the retirement that I think I’ll be due when and if I decide to retire at the end of this term"
Burns was told the matter would be placed under consideration, and discussed at the coffee county commission's next working session.
