A candidate for Houston County sheriff was found dead in his Dothan home Tuesday morning.
Coroner Robert Byrd says 55-year-old Edward Charles Gibson apparently died of natural causes, but an autopsy will be performed to determine the exact cause of death.
Gibson's name was scheduled to be on the Republican ticket in the November general election.
His death means the victor in the June Democratic primary between incumbent sheriff Lamar Glover and Ashford assistant police chief Eddie Ingram will be the out-right winner in the race.
