His job will be to oversee functions involving, planning and zoning, code enforcement, permitting, and the community development block grant program.
Todd McDonald is serving as the director of the planning and development department which was only created last year.
Before coming to Dothan, 48-year-old McDonald worked in Shelby County’s development and service department for 17 years.
He says his first day on the job has been busy.
“First thing we need to do is look at the park master plan. Their process is ongoing now, meet with them this afternoon, see where they're at and help anyway that I can,” said McDonald.
The parks master plan looks at the inventory of what the city has, what they need, and see how to get it.
McDonald will be paid $94,000 a year.
