The Women's Center at Southeast Alabama Medical Center held a luncheon to conclude the celebration of national women's health month.
Monday's luncheon featured 2005 Miss America Deidre Downs.
During her reign she traveled the country raising awareness and funds for pediatric cancer.
She shared the highlights of her year as Miss America, her involvement with pediatric cancer awareness and research and her plans for the future.
“I think when you work with kids with cancer you cant help but feel passionate about it and so that is something that I just wanted to do more,” said Deidre Downs
Downs is responsible for the curing childhood cancer car tag in the state of Alabama.
