A group of regional E-911 representatives is being trained on a new emergency response vehicle in Houston County.
Last November, Houston E.M.A purchased the truck, which will be used as a communications vehicle at emergency and disaster scenes.
There are only eight of them in the state of Alabama.
In the event of a disaster, all area E-911 communications devices will be linked through the truck.
“Bottom line is we believe that this training in this vehicle will significantly aid response to any major disaster as far as communication and other ways to go into a disaster,” said Charles Finney, Dothan-Houston Co. E.M.A.
This year's hurricane season is expected to be quite active, and emergency responders want to be well prepared.
