Hartsfield-Jackson Int'l Airport New Runway

Anyone who has traveled to the extremely busy Hartsfield-Jackson Airport in Atlanta knows delays are part of most travelers' experience there.

However the opening of a long-planned fifth runway could cut travel delays in half

The $1.284 billion runway will open for commercial flights on May 27th.

The federal aviation administration intends for other airports around the country to improve just as Atlanta’s airport has.

Hartsfield-Jackson is the world's busiest airport in terms of passengers and operations.

Airport officials say it's also the airport with the most delays.

Department of Transportation secretary Norman Mineta announced a plan Tuesday to combat air congesting and travel delays.
