A Geneva official has encouraging news about a company looking to open a manufacturing plant in that city.
Mayor Karen Simmons didn't mention the individual's name at Tuesday’s council meeting. She says a Wisconsin resident is looking at the Old Clinton Mills cotton plant as a possible site to build modular homes.
Many of these homes would be shipped to the storm-ravaged Mississippi coast and New Orleans.
Mayor Simmons believes the company could employ between 50 to 200 people.
"I’m very optimistic about it. Talks have gone well and he would fit in very well. We are looking forward to it, put a lot of people to work," said Mayor Simmons.
The company owner is reportedly in the process of securing financing to open a Geneva facility.
