Dothan Fire Training

Don't be alarmed if you see a Dothan house on fire several times this week. The Dothan Fire Department is holding burn training exercises through Thursday.

Each day one of three different shifts will be practicing drills at 900 Sunset Drive.

During a normal fire call, there are three engines, a truck company and a battalion chief. In order to sharpen their skills, the three engines will rotate jobs during each of the day's four exercises.

The house being burned is one provided by the city of Dothan. On the last day of exercises, it will be completely burned down and cleaned up.

The department starts each fire with wood, pine straw and paper to help keep the fire as safe as possible.

The training will be taking place two times a day through Thursday from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. and then again in the afternoon from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
