Out of 51 hospitals nationwide that are owned by triad hospitals incorporated, flowers hospital received the top honor of being named "Hospital Of The Year."
Although they've worked hard all year, the hospital of the year award came as a surprise to the staff at flowers hospital. Dedication from everyone was the key to their success, noted chairman of the hospital board, Dr. Allen latimer.
"It was a big deal for us. What we've done is work on the Medicare initiatives that set standards for the hospitals to achieve for different things like heart disease, heart attack, pneumonia. And try to be 100 percent in all of those categories," said Dr. Latimer.
A party was held today to honor the hospital staff that made it all possible.
"It's and honor and a privilege. We have a very good hospital here and it's representative of the care we give our patients and the services that we provide. The services grow and the patient care that's what it's all about. We believe in treating our patients as if they're our family members. And Dothan is very blessed to have a hospital like that. And Flowers Hospital is very blessed to have a community like Dothan," Scott Givens, Asst. Human Resources Dir.
Among the prizes they received for the honor, they got a check for $300,000 they plan to use it toward future renovations.
